NASA is seeking Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid research on space planets and potentially dangerous asteroids. In addition, according to officials, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help us search for life outside of Earth.

It will be tough to understand them. Therefore, such tools hold great potential to assist us in research.”

NASA has partnered with companies like Intel, IBM, and Google to develop advanced Machine Learning (ML) techniques. Each summer, it brings together innovative companies in the technology and space fields within an eight–week program called the Frontier Development Lab (FDL).

According to the statement, this technique processes information similarly to how neurons in the brain, namely nerve cells, connect with other neurons to process and transmit information.

In addition, the neural network technique can detect this when there is insufficient data, Domagal–Goldman said in a statement, adding that it is essential whether we trust these predictions.

The researchers say that while the neural network technique is still in development, the team helping scientists narrow down the list of exoplanet candidates that deserve further study.

Other FDL technologies are also well appreciated. For example, in 2017, a team developed a Machine Learning (ML) program that could create 3D models of asteroids, including size, shape, and spin rate, in four days. According to the statement, such a program is essential for detecting and deflecting potentially earth–threatening asteroids.

In our opinion, we human beings, who are developing harmoniously on planet Earth, search for planets with the possibility of life. Getting to these planets is not that easy. We need Artificial Intelligence (AI) in space studies. And many spacecraft are also based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). For example, Curiosity is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) spacecraft and falls under the class of spacecraft that landed on Mars. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has multiple benefits in space studies.

Diving into the Universe with Artificial Intelligence

mor ve siyah galaksi illüstrasyonuWe have said before that most space technologies are the product of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The first Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot sent into space is CIMON. CIMON’s spherical robot was sent to the space station aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Rocket. With 12 fans on it, CIMON could glide in a zero–gravity environment and could follow the astronauts without damaging its surroundings. It can even make verbal and written reminders for astronauts’ complex tasks such as maintenance and repair.

CIMON is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot designed to handle complex and many astronauts’ tasks. Astronauts can get their work done by asking CIMON about their issues. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot can respond by listening to the astronauts speak. In addition, CIMON even advises space crew and astronauts in emergencies.

It can control the technical specifications of the ISS Space Station. It is even planned to perform 24–hour missions on future Mars missions. It would not be wrong to call this Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot a flying brain. CIMON cost $6 million to build. There’s even a shut–off button for emergencies, such as when the robot doesn’t get off the road and harm the astronauts.

Artificial Intelligence Seeks Other Worlds

There are trillions of galaxies and planets in the universe. Most of them are hell planets or planets with a very high potential for danger. Scientists stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a significant role in searching for extraterrestrial life. Today, many space agencies use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

beyaz arka plan ile astronotMost future space technology will be Artificial Intelligence (AI)–powered, and even the telescopes most of us use at home will also have advanced versions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the future. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can also collect information about the atmosphere and surface of planets. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology can create 3D models of planets and many celestial bodies.

The Russian Space Agency will follow a different path and work on Artificial Intelligence (AI) because it will send more than one robot to the International Space Station.

There are three levels of Artificial Intelligence (AI) today:

  1. Collect and analyze large numbers of data and draw conclusions.
  2. Be able to use the statistical learning method and to be able to understand and reach a solution by assimilation with the data they have learned before.
  3. Based on pictures and visuals, he responds to what he sees during the training process with a probability rate of 87%.
