Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence Continues to Breakthrough: Defense Industry
Deep learning is an artificial field with essential applications in many areas, especially in image analysis and natural language processing. In recent years, it has been observed that the algorithms that exhibit the highest performance globally, especially in image processing and natural language processing, are based on deep learning.
In our world, where today’s societies are shaped by information, according to recent studies, the data produced in one day worldwide is increasing. Therefore, artificial intelligence and deep learning fields, which can analyze like humans and produce results a million times faster than humans, have gained significant importance to benefit from this ocean of data in the rapidly growing size and complexity.
Due to the increasing interest and ever-expanding application areas today, Artificial Intelligence and deep learning have become a topic of discussion that concerns all humanity, rather than being a topic that only scientists talk about. So much so that today, countries include deep learning in their strategic goals, and some political leaders frequently express their views on this issue on various platforms.
Although this concept is new, deep learning seems to have come a long way. Although it looks limited for now, it may become an artificial intelligence training artificial intelligence by training robots to behave like humans in the future.
We can see that artificial intelligence develops as three different generations in autonomous systems. It is the software developed for the font–based problem solving of robotic systems, which we will call the first generation, simpler and primitive version. When we look at the second generation artificial intelligence products, the essential feature that distinguishes it from the previous ones is that it has learning-based algorithms, including mathematics and statistics. We can see the development of data analysis, data processing, image processing, modeling techniques, and mathematical software units increasing. The third generation artificial intelligence, starting from the second, now provides its statistical data and can manage its software processes. As a result, it can offer safer and more precise answers for solving real-world problems in this context.
In this respect, the processing of IFF data, a friend and foe identification system, is directly dependent on this software. There are two main points on which these technological mechanisms are based: extensive data analysis and detection systems. Today, tools such as radars, ultrasonic devices, rockets, and lasers are emerging due to the development of detection systems.
Conventional wars in the world are now over. There is a transition from asymmetrical wars to hybrid wars. It has political, economic, sociological, diplomatic, and social dimensions. Concepts in the defense industry also need to be developed accordingly. Therefore, digital transformation is necessary.
In this direction, systems such as GPS, etc., may mislead your target in a warm environment. Therefore, using a database–supported positioning system, you can find the actual target with artificial intelligence. In addition, the logistical support of aircraft carriers is a very troublesome issue. That’s why 3D printers are used on such ships. Of course, the primary source of this technology is again artificial intelligence.
Here, much better data and statistics can be provided in the defense industry with artificial intelligence applications used in the defense industry, where we can count many more features. In this way, more accurate data is obtained. Today, we are living in the golden age of the digital transformation era. Therefore, all sectors need to keep up with this field and transform themselves. Because the world is now implementing applications that will give more weight to hybrid systems and remote control systems after the Covid–19 outbreak, in this respect, while the risk is minimized, savings in costs and many other issues are inevitable.
